17 February 2025Bituminous bleeding widely in West Iceland
A danger level due to bituminous bleeding is in effect on Brattubrekka (60), in the valleys (60), over Svínadalur (60) and out of Hvolsdalur (60) but also on the road over Vatnaleið in Snæfellsnes (56), under Hafursfell (54) and to the Heydalsafleggar (54). The same applies to Highway 1, from Borgarnes over Holtavörðuheiði to Hrútafjörður.
Road users are asked to drive carefully on these routes, but speeds are reduced to 70 km/h in many places. Those who suffer damage are advised to submit a damage report on My pages on the website of the Icelandic Road Administration. The Road Administration’s liability for damage is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
